Coach House

A once hidden mews transformed into a light filled sanctuary that preserves its historic character
Image Interiors, 2025

A nineteenth century mews restored and extended to bring light, calm and clarity back into a once fragmented home. A new sunken courtyard wraps a brick garden room and glazed link, organising a sequence from forecourt to courtyard to rear garden while drawing daylight deep into the plan.

New dormers open the upper floor to sky and air. Existing stone and brick sit alongside new brick, timber and glass, giving the house a restrained palette that ties old and new together.

The result is modest but transformative. A compact home rooted in its lane, shaped by light, garden and careful reuse rather than scale.
